Course structure

The Night Rating allows licensed pilots to operate after dark at approved airfields, in line with VFR (Visual Flight Rules).

The course duration depends on student availability

Ground School

Ground school

  • 3 hours
    (Traditional classroom lesson)




Flight Training

Flight training

  • 5 flight hours

Flight activities include:

  • 5 hours of night flying (3 with instructor)
  • One cross-country flight of at least 27 NM
  • 5 solo take-offs
  • 5 solo landings
